Job Description

“Helping students reach new heights.” School-Based Behavior Consultation focuses on skill development amp; challenging behavior reduction for student success! SBBC provides ABA therapy amp; behavior support interventions in-school amp; in-home to improve social skills, academics, vocational skills, functional skills, amp; communication. This is accomplished through the use of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) amp; in collaboration with other specialists, school staff, the students we serve, amp; caregivers.

Mission: We are a team of professionals and experts in Applied Behavior Analysis who partner with amp; equip individuals with autism spectrum disorder, caregivers, community support staff, and/or school team members to gain the skills needed to reach their full potential.

Vision: We envision individuals with autism spectrum disorder throughout East Central Indiana gaining access to more inclusive settings and having greater autonomy in life, as a result of SBBC’s service provision.

Summary

Responsible for providing skills instruction and behavior reduction protocols based upon the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis to children with autism, serious emotional disabilities and other developmental disabilities in the school, home, and/or community settings, under the direction of a BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst). The ABA therapist will collect data on programs, assist with staff training, and assist with assessments as needed.

Work Day

As an RBT, ABA therapy implementation services are required for approximately 10-15 hours per week.

Pay

This position is considered part-time, employed:

  • W-2 position starts at $19 - $23 per hour

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Directly implement prescribed individual programs, treatment plans, behavior intervention plans and/or group programs utilizing ABA strategies and interventions.

  • Provide direct care and supervision of clients receiving services to ensure health and safety.

  • Read, understand, and implement behavior change protocols and teaching techniques

  • Accept feedback and ongoing training and implement it in client therapy sessions.

  • Accurately collect, record and summarize data as prescribed.

  • Document interventions, progress data, session notes

  • Immediately report to BCBA any student incidents/variances or complaints.

  • Communicate with staff and/or caregivers regarding student progress as instructed by the BCBA.

  • Establishes amp; maintains therapeutic relationship by pairing self as a reinforcing entity and building the value for the client of social interaction with the RBT.

  • Maintain confidentiality and follow workplace policies.

  • Attend work and arrive in a timely manner.

Other Functions

  • Assist with skill acquisition and behavioral assessments.

  • Assist with preparing materials as necessary.

  • Collaborate with school teams and attend meetings as necessary.

  • Participate in in-service programs.

  • Maintain a clean work environment.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education And Related Work Experience

  • Required: High School diploma or equivalent;

  • Preferred: Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Education, Special Education or related field

  • Required Work Experience:

    • One year experience implementing ABA in the natural environment

    • OR

    • Two years experience in a school setting, working with students with behavior challenges (including students with Autism, SED and other developmental disabilities)

Licenses, Registrations Or Certifications

  • Required: Registered Behavioral Technician (RBT)

    • Annual renewal and registration must be maintained throughout employment.

  1. Preferred: CPR and CPI Certification

Safety Requirements

  • To ensure a safe and secure environment for our clients and staff, successful candidates will be required to complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening.

  • Continuation of employment may involve periodic rescreening, ensuring adherence to our ongoing safety and compliance standards

Direct Supervisor

The RBT reports to an assigned supervising provider.

  • Therapists must effectively analyze behavioral data, communicate with team members and clients, and use problem-solving skills to adapt therapy in real-time.

  • Therapists need to maintain close and distance vision, including adjusting focus, to monitor clients' responses and adapt interventions accordingly.

  • Work in environments where noise levels vary from moderate to loud due to active client interactions.

  • Therapists should demonstrate sufficient mobility and strength to implement safety interventions when necessary, following behavioral safety protocols.

  • Therapists must possess the stamina and coping skills to manage potentially stressful and emotionally charged situations that arise in therapy.
