Job Description

First Baptist Church Glasgow is searching for a bi-vocational pastor, who is called of God to be the spiritual leader of Glasgow First Baptist Church. The church is in the beautiful river town of Glasgow, Missouri. This small Southern Baptist congregation is looking for a spiritual leader to assist in the church’s mission of proclaiming and sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This bi-vocational pastor will preach the truths of Scripture, while leading people to trust Jesus as their personal Savior and Lord, as well as helping Christians grow spiritually to be Christ like followers. The pastor is responsible to God and to the church for faithfully carrying out this calling and ministry with prayer, conviction, faith, vision, and humility.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conducts all church services.
• Delivers weekly sermons.
• Attends and participates in ministerial alliance meetings as available.
• Oversees filling of the pulpit on any Sunday he is not present to ensure doctrinal consistency.
• Pastoral Care:
  • With the assistance from church leadership, visits the sick and shut-in as available.
  • Provides support and counseling to bereaved families prior to a funeral as well as follow-up visits after the funeral with assistance from church leadership.
  • Provides spiritual counseling to those facing major life decisions (i.e. divorce, job changes, marital issues, personal crisis) and provides pastoral care as needed.
• Leadership and Guidance:
  • Provides spiritual inspiration and guidance.
  • Maps out objectives and plans overall strategy for enhancing church growth.
  • Participates in church activities and fosters fellowship at church gatherings.
  • Conducts Church Business meetings and Call meetings in a timely manner.
  • Provide guidance on Sunday school and VBS education topics and materials vetting for consistency with scriptures and Christian doctrine.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2 years of pastoral experience (i.e. Assistant Pastor, Interim Pastor, Associate Minister, Youth Minister)
• Bachelor’s degree is preferred or a combination of education and experience.
