Job Description

We are looking for a team player with excellent communication skills.  This individual should also be student centered and have a growth mindset.

JOB SUMMARY:
-Be responsible for overall administration of all special education programs to ensure students with disabilities receive appropriate education services and support.

QUALIFICATIONS:
-Master’s degree in Special Education, Educational Leadership, or related field.
-New Hampshire License as a Special Education Administrator
-Five (5) years of successful teaching experience in special education; three (3) or more years of educational administrative experience preferred.
-Must pass a background check.

-Principal and Special Education Director

SUPERVISES:
-Special Education Case Managers/Teachers
-Related Service Providers
-Special Education Paraeducators

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Program Management
-Develop, implement, and evaluate special education programs per with federal, state, and district regulations.
-Coordinate Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and ensure appropriate services and accommodations are provided to students with disabilities.
-Monitor the progress of students with special needs and make adjustments to educational plans as needed.
-Maintain accurate records and documentation related to special education services and student progress.
-Oversee annual updates and three-year evaluations in compliance with federal and state mandates.
-Attend and facilitate all special education meetings as the LEA representative for students.
-Maintain a master list and master schedule of on-going referrals, evaluations, etc. for students.
-Direct the coordination of extended school year programming, staffing schedules, and training.

Teacher Support and Professional Development
-Provide in-service training for staff regarding special education protocols and procedures, IEP implementation and other related issues.
-Provide guidance and support to special education teachers and staff members.
-Collaborate with general education teachers to facilitate the inclusion of students with disabilities in regular classroom settings.
-Organize professional development opportunities related to special education best practices, instructional strategies, and legal requirements.
-Assist in the coordination of early intervention services for students at risk.
-Collaborate with Principal to hire and supervise special education personnel.

Parent and Community Engagement
-Serve as a liaison between the school district, parents/guardians, and community agencies.
-Communicate with families of students with disabilities to address concerns, provide resources, and ensure active participation in the IEP process.
-Foster positive relationships with community organizations and advocate for the needs of students with disabilities.

Compliance and Reporting
-Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and policies related to special education.
-Stay informed about changes in special education laws and regulations and disseminate relevant information to school staff.
-Oversee maintenance of accurate and complete special education records and files.

Budgeting and Resource Allocation
-Assist in the development of the special education budget and allocate resources effectively to support program goals.
-Monitor expenditures and seek additional funding opportunities as needed.

Professional Responsibilities
-Participate as a member of the Teacher Assistance Team.
-Keep all information concerning students, parents, staff, and school-related incidents confidential.
-Communicate the special education program to school personnel and the community.
-Engage in reflective practice.
-Regularly seek out and identify high-quality opportunities to grow and learn, identifying problems of practice or areas of inquiry that inform individual and collaborative learning opportunities.
-Exhibit high standards of ethical practice and wise decision-making on behalf of students, families, and staff.
-Function as part of an educational team in a collaborative role.
-Attending and participating in school board meetings as needed.
-Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Principal and Special Education Director.

-Exposure to a range of heating, air conditioning and ventilation conditions.
-Function in a workplace that is usually moderately quiet but can be noisy at times.
